Dec 2011

Just finished a 25 day European tour with singer Madeleine Peyroux. Amazing cities and food- lots of fun but glad to be home.

While on tour, finished a few cues for Anthony Bourdains new show on Travel Channel “The Layover”. Great show!

Been working on new tracks for my next record. Went to Los Angeles to do some tracks with drummer Jim Keltner and the music is starting to take shape.

Sept 2011

Just got back from France, played at producer Mark Ronson’s (Amy Winehouse, Duran Duran) wedding in the lovely town of Provence. Zigaboo Modeliste put together a great band it was a lot of fun.

August 2011

Started working on new record- finally have some time to experiment a bit with sounds. I think this new music will be somewhat more acoustic based, but still heavy on the rhythmic side.

Been doing some interesting gigs as of late, everything from jingles (Zatarians)  and was part of a house band that backed Harry Connick Jr. and Branford Marsalis along with some other all star New Orleans musicians. The variety keeps it fun for me.

I’ve also been writing and recording music for TV (Food Network) the past few weeks with my friend/composer Jack Miele. For those of you in the New Orleans/ Gulf Coast viewing area check out the show “Piece of Cake” on Fox- we scored all the music for this and it’s been a lot of fun each week.

Update- July 10, 2011

Just got back from an amazing tour with singer Madeleine Peyroux. Started in NYC with a few duo gigs and then a few shows with full band. Some great shows in Canada- (Victoria, Vancouver, Montreal), etc. Then made our way over to Europe (Brussels,Vienna,Netherlands,Paris etc.) and UK. Really fun music and a great band. Met so many new people as well as getting caught up with old friends.

Also co-produced and played on a song called “Nothing at All” for my friend and singer Dre- co-written by Adam Anders from Glee. This song will be feautured on the Sundance channel in the next few months.

In June I  had the opportunity to co-write and play on 10 cues for a reality show on the Discovery Channel called “Sons of Guns”. (Funny thing is, I had just bought a banjo and then the next week get a call to use it!)

Zigaboo Modeliste (drummer for the Meters) and also on my last CD -”Dirty Power”, has a new record out called “New Life”. I played on a lot of it and also co-wrote a song with Zig called “Tough Nuts”- Check it out!

While I was on tour my friend Jack Miele and I scored the music for a reality show called “Piece of Cake” airing on Fox TV. (I did this from hotel rooms and backstage dressing rooms using a Pro-Tools M-Box-the power of the internet!)

I’m off to Japan in August for a short trip and then to Marseilles, France with Zigaboo Modeliste for a private show. More later!

Update April 2011

Been working on some interesting projects as of late- Did a movie score with Greg Barnhill (great singer, composer) for an upcoming movie set in New Orleans. Also recorded a few songs with Harry Connick Jr. for another movie  that will feature Willie Nelson as well. Been working with Maria Muldaur at Fudge Studios on her upcoming release as well as eclectic artist/songwriter Jamie Hayes‘ new one too. Check out Zigaboo Modeliste’s new CD that I’m on doing some guitar tracks as well as co-writing a tune with Zig. It’s funky!

I’ll be going out on tour with Madeleine Peyroux starting in June doing some dates in Canada and Europe. Looking forward to it, I haven’t worked with her in a few years. That’s all for now, still slowly getting the trio happening….

THE STUDIO

Fudge Studios in New Orleans is a great place to work, since Jan, we’ve had a nice mix of bands and artists coming in ranging from local talent, TV and Film work and big rock acts like The Fray and One Republic. (My gear lives at this place and if anyone is interested in coming down to a great place in New Orleans contact me.)

(I got my old Pignose amp fixed from when I was 10 years old and man does that thing sound great!)

Jan 29th 2011- Lots of great new projects this year….

Writing a lot for some new solo projects as well as rehearsing my new quartet.

Writing and co-producing a solo record for my good friend and badass drummer David Northrup (along with Tesla drummer Troy Luccketta.)

I’m still doing a lot of remote sessions (if anyone is interested email me at this site) as well as doing some lessons via Skype. ( I only take a few people at a time, email me to find out if there is a spot if you are interested) Thanks!

Gigs are updated, but because I’m out a lot recording there may be some gaps in there, trying to keep it updated more than the last website!!
